Terms of service
Placeholder policy text. Replace it with your own wording reviewed by legal counsel before publishing.
Scope
These terms apply to all quotes, bookings and services provided by LaneWise.
Where a separate written contract exists, that contract takes precedence. Unless agreed otherwise, we act as a freight forwarder and arrange carriage through selected carriers.
Quotes and bookings
Quotes are valid for 7 days unless stated otherwise. A booking is confirmed once we send a booking confirmation.
Quotes are based on the cargo details you provide. If the actual weight, dimensions or nature of the goods differ, we may adjust the price. Cancellations after collection are charged at cost.
Liability
Our liability follows the applicable conventions for each mode of transport, unless cargo insurance is purchased.
These include the Hague-Visby Rules for sea, the Montreal Convention for air and the CMR Convention for road. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of profit or market.
Payment
Invoices are payable within 30 days unless agreed otherwise in a contract.
Duties, taxes and third party charges paid on your behalf are invoiced at cost. Late payments carry statutory commercial interest, and we may hold goods until overdue invoices are settled.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes go to the courts of Rotterdam.
For forwarding services, the Dutch Forwarding Conditions (FENEX) apply where they do not conflict with these terms.
Claims
Report visible damage on the delivery note and send written claims within 7 days of delivery, with photos and the shipment reference.
Claims for loss or delay must be made in writing within the time limits of the applicable convention. Freight charges may not be withheld or offset against a pending claim.
Dangerous goods
Shippers must declare dangerous goods in full at booking. Undeclared dangerous goods may be refused, held or returned at the shipper's cost.
Shippers are responsible for correct classification, packaging, marking and documentation under IMDG, IATA and ADR rules.
Force majeure
We are not liable for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as port closures, severe weather or industrial action.
If such an event lasts longer than 30 days, either party may cancel the affected booking without further liability. Costs already incurred remain payable.
